What an absolute joy it was to welcome 60 Caversham Primary School students and their very game teachers and parent helpers to our science labs at Highdown yesterday.
Supported by Dr Love, Mrs Beale, Mr Humble and our wonderful Year 12 Science Ambassadors, these inquisitive Year 5 students carefully measured the energy stored in a variety of snacks. The combination of crisps and fire was a real winner!
Thank you to all of the Caversham Primary adults who bravely demonstrated the energy stored in methane by allowing us to ignite the methane bubbles they held on their hands. The screams of delight grew with each demonstration!
The afternoon concluded with wide eyes full of wonder as Speedy the corn snake had her dinner.
Thank you to Caversham Primary Year 5 for being such good listeners and for following instructions so well and to the accompanying adults for being such good sports!
We feel very lucky to be able to build these relationships with our primary school partners.
