Week A

Brighter Futures for Children's First Employment Forum Meeting

Information from Brighter Futures for Children on their first employment forum meeting. Taking place Wednesday 14th June between 4pm and 6pm at Barista & Beyond, 5 Alfred Street, Reading, RG1 7AT.

Dear Recipient,

We look like to invite you to attend the launch of our first employment forum meeting that is being held on Wednesday 14th June between 4pm and 6pm at Barista & Beyond, 5 Alfred Street, Reading, RG1 7AT.

Fewer than 5% of young people with disabilities are registered as being in full time employment nationally. Brighter Futures for Children would like to work more closely with the local community in Reading to improve the outcomes for our young people.

Evidence shows that 70% of the interns who complete the current supported internship programmes on offer progress into paid employment and gain financial independence. We would like to support the intake in these programmes.

Other benefits of completing this option are:

  • Increased confidence and independence
  • Gaining qualifications and work experience to add to a CV
  • Meeting new people
  • Working as part of team and improving resilience.

This forum is an exciting opportunity that will allow a space to identify how we can work collaboratively to increase the numbers of young people taking up supported internships and employment opportunities and improve these services in Reading.

Please can you confirm your attendance so that we can support the café with preparations for the meeting in advance.

We look forward to seeing you there.
